Finish Low

This is a deep dive into carbohydrate periodization with Drs. James Morton & Julien Louis where we explain the science behind our recommendation of FUEL FOR THE WORK REQUIRED (e.g., enough but not much more) & GLYCOGEN THRESHOLD (i.e., train to low levels). We also explore issues of sex and age, how bone health may be critically dependent on carbohydrate availability (not just total calories), and several other important topics.

Fuel For The Work Required

HERE’s the meta-analysis that Dr. Morton mentioned. He said it should be in every coach’s top drawer to be used as a tool for tracking and estimated glycogen content/availability. Remember, the goal - based on current theory from the results of many years of research - is to finish training sessions in a state of low muscle glycogen while starting the sessions with enough to complete the work as planned.
